Executive team (Directors and Chair)

The SLC Executive Team is a group of student leaders who lead, organize, and implement the Student Leadership Conference. They work collaboratively to bring to life the topic of leadership for students at the University of British Columbia. These dynamic roles provide significant project management, strategy, student-driven perspectives and ideas, and much more to ensure that conference activities meet its inherent mission and goals of supporting student leadership on campus.

SLC Coordinators

Learn about coordinator positions and apply here by Monday, October 10th, 11:59pm PT. If you are interested in both executive and coordinator positions, please only submit one application through the Executive position application form.

The SLC Coordinators can expect to gain experience in project management as well as learn specific administrative skills associated with large-scale student program provision. Furthermore, the Coordinator may expect opportunities to use and develop skills in the following (but not limited to) areas:

  • Teamwork
  • Public Speaking
  • Network and Community Outreach
  • Event Planning and Management
  • Professional Communication
  • Leadership within a committee setting

Coordinators will support one or more of the following portfolios within the SLC Planning Team:

  • Communications and Promotions
  • Plenary
  • Concurrent
  • Logistics and Team Development

Volunteers

Day-of volunteers are integral to the conference and assist with a multitude of tasks on the day of. This is a rewarding and dynamic opportunity to network with community leaders, gain transferrable skills, and get involved with the largest student-run conference in Canada. Application details for day-of volunteers will open in November/December 2022.

Host a Workshop

The Student Leadership Conference offers students the opportunity to plan and lead a workshop on a topic relating to student leadership during the conference.

Workshops are sessions focused on introducing initiatives, stories and new ways of thinking to delegates. These sessions vary greatly in topic and offer around 40 delegates an interactive learning experience by giving delegates an opportunity to utilize the skills they have learned.

Every year, UBC students (like YOU!) share their experiences and skills as Workshops facilitators to boost the educational programming of the SLC. Through presenting, these student leaders gain skills in public speaking, event facilitation, and amazing networking opportunities.
